Our Approach

The most important visit you'll have all year.

Preventive care is where dentistry pays off. The cleanings, exams, and screenings you do every six months are what catch small problems while they are still small — before a watch-and-wait cavity becomes a root canal, before early gum disease becomes a deep cleaning, before a slow-changing tissue spot becomes something serious.

Our approach to preventive care is thorough but unhurried. We take the time to look at the whole mouth — teeth, gums, soft tissues, bite, signs of grinding, signs of sleep apnea — not just clean and rush you out. We talk through what we see. We answer questions. If you have not been to a dentist in years and are nervous about coming back, tell us when you call. We can structure the first visit to make it easier.

And yes — we see kids. Sometimes patients assume we only see adults because of how the practice looks. We are a family practice. Cleanings, exams, fluoride, sealants for kids. Many of our families have three generations on our schedule.

  • Whole family, all ages
Kids, teens, adults, seniors. We see them all. Many families have three generations on our schedule.
  • Thorough screenings
Oral cancer screening at every exam. TMJ and sleep apnea screening as part of routine care. Not extras — standard.
  • Comfort technology
Wireless headphones with your music. AR-style movie glasses. iPads for visualization. The visit feels less like a dental appointment.
  • Six experienced hygienists
Real professionals, most with us long-term. Low turnover means your hygienist actually knows your mouth.
  • Single-visit new patient experience
First visit combines the exam, cleaning, X-rays, and review into one appointment. Most other practices split this across two visits.
  • Recall that fits your needs
Most patients are on a 6-month recall. Higher-risk patients (perio history, dry mouth, history of decay) come in every 3-4 months. We tell you what is right for you, not the same answer for everyone.
Comfort & Technology

If you have ever dreaded a dental visit, read this.

Dental anxiety is common and we take it seriously. Beyond a calm, never-rushed approach from our team, we equip every room with technology that genuinely makes the visit easier. Most patients tell us they did not expect it to be this comfortable.

Wireless headphones

Bring your own playlist or pick from ours. Many patients find the right music makes the cleaning sound disappear into the background. Cancels out the sounds people typically associate with the dentist.

AR-style movie glasses

We use AR glasses (similar to XReal-style devices) that project a large screen in front of you while you are in the chair. Watch a show, a movie, or a YouTube channel. Most patients tell us 30 minutes pass faster than they expect.

iPads for visualization

We use iPads to show you exactly what we are seeing — intraoral camera images, X-rays, treatment plans. You see your own teeth, not generic illustrations. Better information, better conversations.

Digital X-rays & iTero scanning

Digital X-rays use significantly less radiation than traditional film and produce sharper images we can analyze on-screen. iTero digital scanning replaces traditional impressions — no goopy trays, faster, more accurate.

What's Included

Preventive care, end to end.

A preventive visit at East Bradford Dental is more than a polish. It is a thorough evaluation of your oral health — teeth, gums, soft tissues, bite, signs of grinding, sleep-related concerns, and a screening that catches problems before they become expensive.

01

Adult cleanings & exams

Most adults come in every 6 months. We remove plaque and tartar, polish the teeth, examine your gums and bite, and screen for oral cancer. Higher-risk patients (gum disease history, dry mouth from medications, history of decay) come every 3-4 months.

Typically covered 100% by PPO insurance
02

Children's preventive care

Cleanings, exams, fluoride treatments, and sealants for kids. We see children of all ages. Some patients assume we are an adults-only practice; we are not. For complex pediatric cases that go beyond routine preventive, we coordinate with a trusted pediatric dentist.

Most children's preventive care covered 100% by PPO insurance
03

Periodontal therapy

For active gum disease, we perform scaling and root planing (deep cleanings) in-house. Often split across multiple visits with local anesthesia. After active treatment, periodontal maintenance every 3-4 months keeps things stable.

Most PPO plans cover periodontal treatment
04

Oral cancer screening

Part of every routine exam. We examine the soft tissues of the mouth, throat, and neck for any unusual changes. Early detection dramatically improves outcomes. Most patients we screen have no symptoms or risk factors — and that is exactly why we screen everyone.

Included in every exam
05

Sleep apnea & TMJ screening

We screen for signs of sleep-disordered breathing and TMJ disorders at every exam — worn teeth from grinding, jaw clicking, headaches that may be jaw-related, soft tissue patterns suggesting airway issues. If we find concerns, we discuss what to do about them.

Included in every exam
06

Custom night & sports guards

Night guards for patients who grind or clench (often a cause of sensitivity, jaw pain, or worn teeth). Sports mouthguards for kids and adults playing contact sports — significantly more protective than boil-and-bite versions. Both fabricated from a digital iTero scan.

Coverage varies by plan; some night guards covered as medical necessity
Your First Visit

What to expect, step by step.

We combine your new patient exam and cleaning into a single appointment — most other practices split this into two visits. About 60-90 minutes total. You leave with a clear picture of your oral health and a plan for any work that may be needed.

  1. 1

    Welcome & history

Check in at the front desk. We have your insurance verified and the paperwork ready (we send forms ahead of time so you do not fill out a clipboard in the waiting room). Brief conversation about your medical history, any concerns, and what you want from the visit.

  2. 2

    X-rays & imaging

If you have not had X-rays recently, we take digital X-rays — bitewings, panoramic, or others depending on what is appropriate. Significantly less radiation than traditional film. We may also do iTero digital scanning to capture a 3D model of your bite for future reference.

  3. 3

    Comprehensive exam

The doctor examines your teeth, gums, bite, soft tissues, and screens for oral cancer, sleep apnea signs, and TMJ disorders. We probe the gums tooth-by-tooth to establish a periodontal baseline. We discuss what we find — usually with you looking at iPad imagery of your own mouth.

  4. 4

    Cleaning

Your hygienist does a thorough cleaning — plaque and tartar removal, polish, floss. If you want music, wireless headphones are right there. If you want to watch a show, we set up the AR glasses. Most patients tell us the time passes faster than they expect.

  5. 5

    Review & plan

The doctor reviews findings with you. If everything is healthy, you book your next recall and head out. If something needs attention, we discuss it openly — what is going on, what your options are, what each would cost, and what is urgent versus what can wait. You decide together what to do next.

A Real Family

Three generations on the same schedule.

One of the families we see has been coming to East Bradford Dental since before Dr. Casella took over the practice. The grandparents started here in the late 1990s. Their adult children are now patients. And the grandchildren — most of them now school-aged — come in for their cleanings too.

Some weeks we have three generations of the same family on the schedule. The grandparents know our front desk staff by name. The grandkids know which hygienist is theirs. It is the kind of relationship that builds when you stay in the same place doing the same work for decades. That is what a family dentist can be.

Our Hygiene Team

Six hygienists who actually know your mouth.

Most of our hygienists have been with the practice long-term. They are real professionals — skilled, calm, patient. Many of our patients see the same hygienist visit after visit, year after year. That continuity matters more than people realize.

A hygienist who has cleaned your teeth for ten years knows where the trouble spots are. She knows which areas you tend to miss with floss. She remembers that you grind at night and watches for signs of progression. She knows when something looks different than last visit, even subtly. That is preventive care done at a level you do not get when the hygienist is always new.

Low staff turnover is one of the quiet signals of a well-run practice. It is also one of the things that makes long-term care actually work.

Insurance & Cost

Preventive care is usually covered fully.

Preventive dental care is the one category most insurance plans cover at 100%. If you have a PPO, your routine cleanings, exams, X-rays, and most pediatric preventive services are typically free out of pocket. For patients without insurance, our in-house benefit plan covers preventive care plus discounts on other treatment.

  • PPO plans: typically 100% coverage
Most PPO plans cover 2 cleanings, exams, and routine X-rays per year at 100%. Sealants for kids are typically covered too. We verify benefits before your visit.
  • In-network with major PPOs
United Concordia, Guardian, Aetna, and others. We submit claims on your behalf. No surprise bills.
  • No insurance? Try our benefit plan
Our in-house benefit plan starts at $229/year and includes preventive care (cleanings, exams, X-rays) plus discounts on other treatment. No deductibles, no waiting periods. See plan details.
  • Periodontal treatment coverage
If you need deep cleanings (scaling and root planing), most PPO plans cover them as restorative. We will verify coverage before treatment.
  • CareCredit available if needed
For any additional work that comes out of your preventive visit, CareCredit financing is available — 6, 12, 18, and 24-month interest-free plans (subject to credit approval).
Common Questions

Preventive questions.

  • Do you see kids?
Yes — we see patients of all ages. Some patients assume we are adults-only because of how the practice looks, but we are a family practice. Pediatric cleanings, exams, fluoride treatments, and sealants are part of what we do. For complex pediatric cases (significant behavioral needs, very young children with extensive treatment plans), we coordinate with a trusted pediatric dentist.
  • How often should I come in for a cleaning?
For most adults, every 6 months is right. For higher-risk patients (gum disease history, dry mouth from medications, history of decay), we recommend every 3-4 months. The right interval is the one that keeps your mouth healthy — we tell you what is right for you specifically rather than apply the same answer to everyone.
  • Do I really need X-rays every year?
Bitewing X-rays are typically every 1-2 years for healthy adults, more frequently for higher-risk patients. Panoramic X-rays are typically every 5 years. We do not take X-rays routinely — we take them when they will change what we recommend. Our digital X-rays use significantly less radiation than traditional film.
  • What happens at a new patient visit?
We combine the exam and cleaning into a single visit (most other practices split this into two). You meet your hygienist, do a comprehensive exam including oral cancer screening, sleep apnea and TMJ screening, take any needed X-rays, get a thorough cleaning, and review findings with the doctor. About 60-90 minutes.
  • What does it cost?
Most preventive care is covered at 100% by PPO dental insurance plans — including 2 cleanings, exams, and X-rays per year, plus sealants for kids. We are in-network with most major PPOs and submit claims on your behalf. For patients without insurance, our in-house benefit plan starts at $229/year and includes preventive care plus discounts on other treatment.
  • What if I have anxiety about dental visits?
Anxiety is common and we equip the office for it. Wireless headphones with your choice of music. AR-style movie glasses (similar to XReal glasses) for watching a show during the visit. iPads for visualization so we can show you what we are seeing. Our hygienists are patient and never rushed. If you have not been to a dentist in years and are nervous about coming back, tell us when you call — we can structure the first visit to make it easier.
  • Do you do deep cleanings (scaling and root planing)?
Yes. For patients with active gum disease, we perform scaling and root planing in-house. This is a deeper cleaning that goes below the gumline. Often split across multiple visits with local anesthesia. After active treatment, we put patients on a 3-4 month periodontal maintenance schedule.
  • Do you screen for oral cancer?
Yes — every routine exam includes an oral cancer screening. We examine the soft tissues of the mouth, throat, and neck for any unusual changes. Early detection dramatically improves outcomes. It is a quick exam that has saved patient lives over the years.
  • Do you make night guards or sports mouthguards?
Yes to both. Custom night guards for grinding or clenching (a common cause of sensitivity and worn teeth). Custom sports mouthguards for kids and adults playing contact sports — far more protective than boil-and-bite versions. Both fabricated from a digital iTero scan.
