Why Invisalign

Straighter teeth without a mouthful of metal.

Most adults considering orthodontic work do not want to spend a year and a half with brackets and wires. Invisalign is the alternative: clear plastic aligners, worn 20-22 hours a day, swapped out for the next one in the series every one to two weeks. Over the course of treatment, your teeth move to where they're supposed to be.

For the adult cases we treat — mild-to-moderate crowding, spacing, and orthodontic relapse — Invisalign works just as well as braces, often in less time. The aligners are nearly invisible. You take them out to eat and brush. There is nothing to break, nothing to poke the inside of your mouth, and no monthly tightening visits.

The most common patient we see for Invisalign is someone who had braces as a teenager, stopped wearing retainers at some point, and watched their teeth slowly shift back over 10 or 20 years. That orthodontic relapse case is our sweet spot. Treatment is fast, the result is predictable, and you finish with a set of vivera retainers to keep things stable for life.

  • Nearly invisible
Clear aligners. Most people will not notice you're wearing them.
  • Removable
Take them out to eat, brush, and floss like normal. No food restrictions, no special hygiene routine.
  • 3-12 month treatment
For the adult cases we take, treatment runs 3 to 12 months. Faster than traditional braces in most cases.
  • No brackets, no wires
Nothing to break, nothing to poke. No emergency visits for broken brackets.
  • Digital preview before you commit
At your free consult, we take an iTero scan and show you a digital preview of what your finished smile would look like.
  • 1 refinement included
If your final result needs fine-tuning at the end, the first refinement set is included at no additional cost.
Who We Treat

Adult cases, honestly assessed.

We focus on what we do well. For adults whose cases fall in our sweet spot, Invisalign at East Bradford Dental is faster, more predictable, and more personal than what you'd get at a high-volume ortho practice. For cases outside our scope, we'll tell you up front and refer you to an orthodontist we trust.

We treat

Adult orthodontic relapse

You had braces as a teenager. You stopped wearing your retainer at some point. Over years, your teeth slowly shifted back. This is the case we see most often, and it's almost always a perfect Invisalign candidate. Treatment is usually 4-9 months.

We treat

Mild-to-moderate crowding

Adult patients whose teeth are slightly overlapping or rotated. Invisalign moves them into proper alignment, sometimes with help from interproximal reduction (IPR) to create needed space. Treatment 6-12 months.

We treat

Spacing & gaps

Adults with small gaps between teeth, especially in the front. Invisalign closes spaces predictably. Often combined with cosmetic work (bonding, veneers) at the end for the best aesthetic result.

We treat

Mild bite corrections

Minor crossbite, overbite, or underbite issues in adults. Invisalign with attachments can correct these. If the bite issue is significant or skeletal, we refer to an orthodontist for an opinion first.

We refer out

Teens and children

We focus on adult cases. For teens and children, we refer to a local orthodontist who specializes in growth-related cases. Happy to make the referral and stay involved in general dental care.

We refer out

Complex skeletal & surgical cases

Severe Class II or Class III bites, cases requiring extractions or expansion, surgical orthodontics. These need an orthodontist with the right diagnostic tools and treatment options. We'll tell you honestly when that's the right path.

How It Works

What to expect, step by step.

  1. 1

    Free consultation & iTero scan

You come in for a free consult — about 45 minutes. We take an iTero digital scan (no goopy impressions), review your case, and answer your questions. If you're a candidate, you'll see a digital preview of what your finished smile could look like. You leave with an exact price and timeline. No pressure to commit.

  2. 2

    Treatment planning

If you decide to move forward, we work with Invisalign to design your treatment plan — every aligner in the series, attachments, IPR, the exact tooth movements at each stage. We review the plan with you before any aligners are ordered.

  3. 3

    Aligners delivered, attachments placed

Your first set of aligners arrives 2-3 weeks later. At your delivery appointment we bond small tooth-colored attachments to the teeth that need them (they help the aligners grip and control tooth movement), perform any IPR if planned, and walk you through wear, hygiene, and care.

  4. 4

Wear 20-22 hours per day, swap every 1-2 weeks

You wear each aligner full-time, taking them out only to eat, drink (anything other than water), and brush. Most patients swap to the next aligner every one to two weeks based on the plan. Check-ins every 6-8 weeks to make sure tracking is on schedule.

  5. 5

    Refinement (if needed) & retainers

At the end of the planned aligner series, we evaluate the result. If a small refinement is needed, we take another scan and order a short refinement series — included at no additional cost. Once treatment is complete, we deliver vivera retainers and recommend wearing them nightly for life.

A Real Case

Braces as a kid. Shifted teeth as an adult. Fixed in 11 months.

One of our patients had a typical adult orthodontic story. Braces in middle school, retainers worn faithfully for a year, then forgotten in a drawer. Over the next two decades, their teeth gradually shifted — not dramatically, but enough to notice in photos and feel self-conscious in meetings.

We took an iTero scan, showed them the digital preview of the finished result, and got started. Eleven months later, the case was complete. They wear vivera retainers nightly now — the lesson learned from the first time. The result looks like the smile they remember having after braces came off, twenty years ago.

A Common Question

What about SmileDirectClub?

Mail-order aligners are cheaper for a reason. They skip the diagnostic exam that determines whether you're a candidate, and there's no in-person clinical supervision throughout treatment.

When you move teeth, things can go wrong. Bites can become misaligned. Roots can move in ways that aren't visible in your mouth but are visible on an X-ray. Attachments and IPR — small adjustments that determine whether the final result is right — aren't part of a mail-order treatment. We have seen patients come in after DIY aligner treatment with shifted bites, sore jaws, and teeth in worse positions than where they started.

For very mild cosmetic-only cases, mail-order can technically work. But you have no way of knowing whether your case is one of those, because nobody clinically supervised qualified you in the first place. The cost difference is real, but you're paying for the diagnostics, the supervision, and the ability to course-correct mid-treatment — all the things that determine whether the result is actually right.

Come in for a free consult. We'll give you an honest read on whether you're a candidate, what treatment would involve, and what it would cost — including telling you if we'd refer you to an orthodontist instead.

Common Questions

Invisalign questions.

  • How much does Invisalign cost?
A typical adult case at East Bradford Dental runs $3,500 to $5,500. That's an all-inclusive case fee covering the iTero scan, every aligner through completion, attachments, IPR if needed, in-office monitoring, and one refinement at no additional cost. Vivera retainers post-treatment are $400-$600 separately. You'll get an exact written quote at your free consultation.
  • How long does treatment take?
For the adult cases we treat, typical treatment runs 3 to 12 months. Orthodontic relapse cases (the most common) are usually 4-9 months. Mild crowding or spacing cases are 6-12 months. We don't take on complex cases that would require 18-24 months — for those we refer to an orthodontist.
  • Do you treat teens or kids?
No — we focus on adult Invisalign cases. For teens and children, we refer to a local orthodontist who specializes in growth-related cases. We're happy to make the referral and stay involved in your child's general dental care.
  • Am I a candidate?
Invisalign works well for adults with mild-to-moderate crowding, spacing, or orthodontic relapse. Severe skeletal bite issues, extractions, expansions, and complex rotations are better handled by an orthodontist. The only way to know for sure is a free consult — we'll take an iTero scan, show you a preview of what's possible, and tell you honestly whether we're the right fit.
  • Does it hurt?
The first day or two with each new aligner can feel tight or slightly uncomfortable — that means it's working. Most patients adjust quickly. There are no brackets or wires to poke the inside of your mouth, which is one of the most-praised differences from traditional braces.
  • Will my insurance cover it?
Most PPO plans include orthodontic coverage — typically a lifetime orthodontic maximum of $1,000 to $2,500 that applies to Invisalign as well as braces. We're in-network with major PPOs and submit claims on your behalf. For the portion not covered, CareCredit financing and our in-house benefit plan discount can help.
  • What's wrong with SmileDirectClub?
Mail-order aligners skip the diagnostic exam and clinical supervision that determine whether you're actually a candidate and whether the result is right. We've seen patients come in with shifted bites and worse problems after DIY treatment. For very mild cases they can technically work, but you have no way of knowing if you're one of those cases — because nobody qualified you in the first place. The cost difference reflects the diagnostics, supervision, and ability to course-correct mid-treatment.
  • How often will I come in?
Typically every 6-8 weeks for a short check-in. We make sure your teeth are tracking with the aligners, adjust attachments if needed, and hand off your next set of aligners. Most check-ins fit into a lunch break.
  • What about retainers afterward?
Wear them. Teeth want to shift back toward where they started, especially in the first year after treatment. We provide vivera retainers (made by Invisalign, $400-$600) and recommend nightly wear for life. The patients we see for orthodontic relapse cases are almost always people who stopped wearing retainers years ago — don't be that patient.
